The Progressive Link to News, Information, Conversation, Organization and Political Campaigns for All Fifty States

Kansas Progressive Resources

The question of 2004, inspired by a popular political book, was "What's the matter with Kansas?" Well, on Election Day, the world discovered that a more apt question was "What's the matter with America?" Some people say that California leads the nation in trends, but these days, it seems that it's Kansas that shows the way for America, for good and for ill.

The educated people of Kansas were awfully embarrassed when a bunch of fundamentalists temporarily outlawed the teaching of biological evolution in public schools. What the national media was not so quick to cover was the fact that a network of progressives in Kansas soon formed to take the schools back from the religious right. Cliches aside, the people of Kansas are not living in the year 1850.

Kansas Progressives learned their lesson, and have been organizing with dedication ever since. The more we look around Kansas, the more we see that the extremist nationalism of the Republican Party has had its day. Good old fashioned American progressivism is coming back to Kansas - and as Kansas goes, so goes America.

We've found a good foundation of individuals and organizations in our search for Kansas progressives, but we know that there are even more to be found. We want to help Kansas progressives in their work for positive change, so, if you know of any progressive groups, information resources, or candidates in Kansas that we don't already have listed here in this directory, get in touch and we'll take a look, and consider adding links to them as a part of this growing catalog of people working for idealism and liberty in Kansas.
