The Progressive Link to News, Information, Organization and Political Campaigns for All Fifty States
Illinois is one of those funny states that seems lost in the shadow of one city. In the popular consciousness, there's not much of an Illinois identity as a whole state, just that massive area known as Chicagoland, and then some leftover scraps that don't seem to belong to the same world at all.
Of course, the truth is very different from popular perceptions. There's a lot going on in Illinois, inside and outside of Chicagoland. From the border with Wisconsin, over to the Quad Cities, and down to the near-Paducah parklands in the south, there's a lot of progressive action going on in Illinois. Most famously, Illinois has elected the great progressive hope for America: Senator Barack Obama, a leader of truly global levels, with a background that ranges from Africa, through small town Kansas, and into one of the biggest metropolitan centers of American power. There's a reason that Barack Obama got elected - it's because Illinois knows true vision when it sees it. In Illinois, the stakes are big, and that's why we still have hope for America.
We've located many individuals and organizations in our search for Illinois progressives, but we know that there are even more to be found. We want to help Illinois progressives in their efforts to make the world a better place, so, if you know of any progressive groups, candidates, and information resources in Illinois that we don't already have listed here in this directory, get in touch and we'll take a look, and consider adding links to them as a part of this growing catalog of people working for freedom and fairness in Illinois.
