Nazi Fake News Site Breitbart Suffers Huge Loss As 226 Companies Remove Advertising Dollars

populist uprising against breitbart fascists

Steven Bannon and his loyal crew of white supremacists made a bet years ago. They bet that if they could make Breitbart the home of the most despicable falsehoods on the Internet, they would make themselves rich and politically powerful.

They began spreading blatant lies attacking women, ethnic minorities, foreigners, Muslims, Jews, LGBT Americans, working people, and practically everyone else who made an easy target. Bannon declared proudly that Breitbart would become the voice of American Nazis, or, as they like to refer to themselves, “the Alt-Right”.

Was it a good bet?

So far, the cynical choice of the Breitbart gang has worked out well for them. They have ridden a wave of profitable hate to wealth and into the White House, with Donald Trump as their figurehead of fascism.

Since Election Day 2016, Americans of good conscience have finally been shocked into awareness of the threat that Breitbart’s mission of misanthropic misinformation poses to the survival of democracy in our country. A grassroots network of people working under the collective name Sleeping Giants has arisen on Twitter, with the mission of notifying companies that their online advertisements are appearing on Breitbart, giving financial aid to the biggest source of bigotry online.

As a result, as of this evening, 226 companies have pulled their advertisements from Breitbart. In doing so, they are depriving Breitbart of a significant portion of the money the site depends upon to broadcast its hateful propaganda.

There’s still a lot of work to be done. Many prominent companies, such as IBM, AT&T, Amazon and Ford, have decided to keep funding Breitbart. Apparently, they believe that white supremacists and conspiracy theorists are an important target market.

The following companies have chosen a higher path. They have decided that they will no longer allow their advertising budgets to fill the bank accounts of Breitbart’s bigotry:
